The Ultimate Classic: The Little Black Dress
Fashion changes, trends come and go but the classics will always stand the test of time. It was date night the other evening (with the hubby in case you were wondering) and there I am stressing what to wear (this is pretty much the norm with me) overthinking, wanting to wear something different, more daring and then it occurred to me, less is really more. So instead of stressing I slipped into a classic little black dress.
History lesson alert, did you know that fashion historians have said that the origins of the little black dress are dated back to the 1920s designs of Coco Chanel and Jean Patou. Their intention was to create something that was long-lasting, versatile, affordable and in a one colour. Hence why it is often simply referred to as the ‘LBD’.
Well if it’s good enough for Coco Chanel then it is good enough for me. There’s something quite empowering about a LBD that makes you feel confident. This off the shoulder dress that I am wearing from LUX FIX has such beautiful intricate lace details on the neck line. I think it’s the perfect summer black dress to make you feel glamorous with effortless hassle. Pair it with minimum no fuss accessories, a pair of killer heels and let this cutie do all the talking.
So yes I believe in the rule of fashion, that every woman should own a simple black dress.
