My Guilty Pleasure With Jewellery Brand Missoma
A few weeks ago I was excited to shoot with one of my favourite jewellery brands Missoma. I absolutely adore all of their pieces so when the proposition came about – it was a no brainer. What’s lovely about my story with Missoma is the fact I bought my first piece over a year and a half ago and then by chance discovered that Marisa Hordern, was the Creative Director and Founder of Missoma. You see Marisa and I went to the same school and she was in the year above me, and we knew each other really well. So it was a totally lovely surprise to be reconnected and meet up for coffee and discuss our passions and goals. I was intrigued to know more about the brand and what made her chase her dream.
Gemstones became something of a passion for Marisa growing up; attracted to the many different colours, textures, and stories behind each gemstone, she collected them in all shapes and forms. In 2005, Marisa decided to leave her job at luxury goods holding company and pursue her love of jewellery. She founded Missoma, which was a combination of her mother Michele, sister Sophie and her name. Starting it around their kitchen table, they would design and make their gemstone jewellery from home.
Today, Missoma is known for its 18ct gold vermeil jewellery and its use of bold colours and special hand faceted cuts. Although it specialises in gemstones, it has recently also branched out into diamond pave jewellery, with a more delicate and minimalist look that is centred around everyday luxury.
The problem with MIssoma is that when you visit their website you literally want to buy everything, temptation is literally all around . Just blink and I promise your shopping basket will be full to the brim. What’s great about this brand is that many pieces are actually affordable and this combined with style is a major bonus!
