Let’s Work Out – Time For Psycle
With summer literally around the corner I’ve decided to start getting back into shape. Being not much of a gym person, I just prefer to try out fun new classes. I’ve always wanted to give spinning a try and after hearing about Psycle and its rave reviews, I decided to give it a go. They have an amazing joining offer, 2 classes for £20 plus an extra credit for a friend, just in case you need some moral support 😉
Classes are easy to book online and totally hassle free. They have a great flexible timetable and when booking your class, you also get to choose your bike and can immediately see which are occupied. I obviously opted for one right at the back. Whats also great about Psycle, is no joining or membership fee but you simply pay as you go.
I booked a 9.30am class with Gemma. If it’s your first time do make sure to get their 15 minutes early so you can get reacquainted with the staff and familiarise yourself. As soon as I got there the lovely people at reception welcomed me and handed me a pair of cleated shoes (you are asked for your shoe size when signing up online). I made my way to the changing rooms – which are pretty fab as they are stocked with ila’s luxurious, organic bath and body products. And if like me you need hair equipment to tame the frizz, there are plenty of Ghd hairdryers and straighteners.
Finally, when it was time I made my way downstairs to the studio and went to my bike, which are easy to find as they are all numbered. The instructor Gemma, who was lovely, made sure to attend to us first timers to help set up our bikes and click our shoes into place – which I have to admit it wasn’t quite as easy as it looked. Once everyone was set up, the music blasted off onto full volume and off we started with our workout. It was pretty much like being in a club except a tad more strenuous! I started off peddling like crazy, perhaps I started off a little too enthusiastic! 10 minutes later I thought I was going to die or faint, but the whole buzz of the class, the cool music and everyone giving it their all really pushed you till the end. I must admit, they were the longest 45 minutes of my life and most of the time I couldn’t keep up with Gemma’s pace, but boy was that a full total body workout! It simply is a high intensity, low impact, head to toe workout on a bike.
I love this phrase from Roald Dahl
All in all I totally enjoyed it and was feeling really satisfied with myself – you just feel amazing after a great work out, even though my legs felt like jelly! I cannot wait to go back there again! They also have a delicious selection of juices from Imbibery which are perfect after a workout!
Sign up to Psycle and start the spinning madness.
