Inspiring Places: Pietrasanta
Pietrasanta is one of those places that I call a hidden gem, it is absolutely breath taking. A historic medieval and artistic town in northern Tuscany, it is also known as the ‘city of artists’ or ‘small Athens’ for its marble studios and beautiful monuments. The town has Roman origins but the modern town is named after its founder Guiscardo Pietrasanta who built it in the mid-thirteenth century as part of the republic of Lucca. It is an absolute haven for artists who live or work here and was also a hot spot for Michelangelo. With numerous art galleries and exhibits and beautiful boutiques I am very lucky to visit this place often and do recommend it to anyone touring around Tuscany.
Here are a few snapshots taken on a cloudy Saturday afternoon…
